- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh sage leaves
- 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Juice of half a lemon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Combine pears and water in a large saucepan. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes.
- Add sage leaves, continuing to simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Use a blender or food processor to puree the mixture until smooth.
- Return puree to saucepan, adding honey or maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt.
- Allow mixture to simmer uncovered on low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once thickened, remove from heat to cool. Transfer to sterilized jars and seal.
